Unboring paladins: more than killjoys

This will be a quick one because it’s so easy.

Paladins are fundamentalists and you can’t spell “fundamentalism” without “fun”.

Fanatics make great partiers… except when their fanaticism tells them not to party.

Which is the typical paladin.

“Don’t steal that Ferrari, Rogue - it’s wrong!”

Yawn.

Make your paladin a crusader for anything except the most vanilla interpretation of Lawful Good. There, you’re done, the paladin is exciting to play.

My first ever character was a paladin for the Goddess of Knowledge. He would kill orphans if it was the only way to save a library.

When you give your paladin their stick up the butt, make it for something fun to play, like they hate liars or the undead. Or make them funny to play, like they hate tunics that mix cotton and hemp.

Be the party’s moral compass… for a moral code that makes no sense.

There, done, I made your paladin fun in less than 160 words.
